Who We ARe

Our Mission
We are progressive, neighborhood church
that worships God, builds community,
and shares our spiritual journeys

Our Vision
To be used by God to grow a Christian community that changes lives and transforms the world

Our Journey
To do justice
To love kindness
To walk humbly with God

We are a gathering of people committed to telling the story of Jesus - a story of love that is capable of changing lives and transforming the world.

We tell that story in worship, in study, in service, in action, in music, in prayer, in relationships, in our neighborhood, throughout our city, and all over God’s world. We hope that together we might be a small part of some incredible things God is doing right here, and right now.

Here are some helpful things to know when you visit Grace-Trinity:

  • Expect a warm welcome! Not too hot, not too cold, just the right temperature of welcome! We love having guests and love seeing new faces. Greeters will be standing by the door to hand you a bulletin. They can answer any questions you have about our church and worship service.

  • Dress however you feel most comfortable. We have a bunch of retired folks (who tend to dress up a bit) and an increasing number of young professionals (who tend to wear jeans) - so feel free to wear whatever you like.

  • Our worship is fairly traditional, in that it follows a standard Reformed liturgy, but people will tell you it doesn't feel stuffy or formal. In addition to our choir, we often have special guest musicians and soloists to help lead our worship. We love to sing and have a great variety of classic hymns and newer songs.

  • We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of each month. Everyone is welcome to participate; children, too. We honor parent(s)' decision about when it's the right time for their kids to begin participating in the sacrament.

  • We hope that you'll join us for some coffee and refreshments in our new Commons space, both before and after worship. Community is important to us and we love to connect with old friends and make new ones.

  • Speaking of children, we offer childcare provided by trained, background-checked workers and volunteers. We know that some kids aren't ready to leave their parents yet, so you'll also find a special family pew with crayons, small toys, and age-appropriate books.

What to Expect

The best way to connect at Grace-Trinity is through our various programs and groups. For more information about what’s happening at our church right now, please visit the Connect page on our website or email our church administrator, Deborah Clark.

  • Small Groups
Our small groups are gatherings of people who meet in two seasons each year (during Lent and the month of October) to talk about life and faith.

  • Grace-Trinity Choir
We’re not gonna lie - our choir is awesome and always open for new people to join. They rehearse on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.

  • Join a Team
We work in teams to help provide hospitality on Sunday mornings and beyond. Click here to learn more or signup to volunteer.

  • Outreach Opportunities
There are lots of ways to serve others in our neighborhood and city. We partner with these organizations at various times throughout the year: Clare Housing, Feed My Starving Children, Joyce Food Shelf, Open Arms, and Urban Homeworks.

Our Staff

Zac Calvo, Pastor

Zac is a Seattle native, Presbyterian pastor and newly-minted Midwest transplant doing his best to embrace snowstorms in April and anticipating summers by the lake. During his time in Seattle, he worked as both an associate pastor at a traditional congregation and as the organizing pastor for Coastland Commons, an experimental spiritual community focused on the intersection of creativity and faith. He and his husband Elliot are nesting in their new home in Brooklyn Center, trying to keep up with their boundlessly energetic chocolate lab, Rufus, and working their way through restaurant recommendations in the Twin Cities. Zac is always on the lookout for horror movies that actually scare him and attempting to trick his husband into watching them. He is passionate about bringing people together in the Uptown neighborhood for deep and intentional conversations around spirituality and community well-being.
